‘Carry on’ exhibition at the Artellewa Gallery

This is the exhibition of the Arab Collaboration Project. ‘Spain in the Era of Freedom’ screening at the Artistic Creativity Centre at 6pm

This 2004 production is directed by Luis Martin del Olmo. The film is part of a series of films on the history of Spain entitled ‘Cinema for Change,’ which will be held from Sunday through Friday, organised by the Cultural Development Fund and the Spanish Embassy in Cairo. It highlights films that explore the legacy of General Franco’s authoritarian rule of Spain. For full programme, click here.

‘Gallery Collection’ exhibition at Al-Masar Gallery

Syrian musician Kinan El-Azmeh and City Band 8.30pm

El-Genaina’s June programme opens on Thursday 7 June with a performance by Syrian musician Kinan El-Azmeh and City Band. Formed in 2006 in New York, Kinan Azmeh’s City Band immediately gained recognition for their virtuosic and high energy performances. Born in Damascus in 1976, Kinan Azmeh graduated from the Damascus Higher Institute of Music. In 2000, he moved to New York City and graduated from the Juilliard School. As soloist and composer, Kinan Azmeh has performed in many prestigious concert halls around the world and cooperated with renowned musicians such as Canadian pianist Dinuk Wijeratne, Marcel Khalife, Zakir Hussein, Daniel Barenboim and others.
